There is no denying it, if you are looking for a realtor there are a ton of us, and you may
personally know a handful!
So how do you choose a Realtor?
Firstly, someone that has been in the game for a long time may not always be the best.
They could be stuck in old ways, not as passionate or innovative as a newer agent.
So, what to look for?
Well, this is someone that you will be working with over the next several months. Going house shopping, getting your home ready, and preparing it for closing. You will want someone that you get along with and can easily sit and enjoy dinner with. Secondly, ask them what their expertise and strengths are and if that aligns with your weaknesses/needs.
Do you need renovations completed prior to listing, or are you wanting someone that
can help you understand the mechanics of a home that you purchase?
Do you need help adding life to your home and require someone that can stage it?
Some charge for this, and some provide this complimentary. Look at their prior listings to
see the work.
Are you thinking of purchasing your first investment property and would like someone
that has real-life experience to offer?
Are you in a competitive market and needing someone that will be creative and work
hard at selling your home and not just put a sign up on the lawn? Check out their social
media to see what they have done in the past.
I have hosted Red Carpet Open Houses, Agent Open Houses with a Spa gift card to be
won, and made videos of the amenities in the area to name a few.
Look for an agent that thinks outside the box.
Lastly, ensure the agent meeting you at the initial appointment will be the one working
with you throughout the process, or will they be referring you to someone else on their
team? Larger agents will be at the first appointment and then refer you to a member of
their team for everything else.
What is something you look for or wish you had looked for on a prior sale?
